How did this xoul every pass a psychological exam? The case hits particularly close to both partners’ homes, since Maggie’s former alcoholic mother has joined Everett’s church and Tully’s daughter was with the senator’s daughter on the night she was killed.

Admittedly, there are bits and pieces of good wring and some of the suspense scenes are pretty good. Maggie’s own mother is caught up in the organization. Maggie O’Dell is brought into a case of a murder of a teenage girl in DC that seems connected to a recent FBI stand-off at a cabin that resulted in the suicides of a group of young men.
The story was simple yet complex and there actcher times I was confused and a bit disappointed, I did not quite like the ending, it was unexpected yes, but also did not deliver the satisfaction of having caught the guy. I thought this was very well written, the same type of story as Portrait in Death by JD Robb, but in my opinion, slightly better here, but the concept is almost identical, even some of the wording and the reason behind it to a point is identical.

The connection is a curious religious cult lead by a man that they just can’t shake is involved somehow Dec 20, Alyssa rated it liked it. Even though this book focuses on Maggie’s unresolved personal problems yet again, she doesn’t seem so uncharacteristically reckless.

I was intrigued by the killings and had my suspicions about the murderer but only guesses it a few chapters before the end. I actually found this book too long, rather boring and needing some tight editing. Tully, delve deeper into the cases, they discover there is a connection: Number three in the series and I am still not getting it. Thanks for telling us about the problem.

What Kava did was combine a realistic, yet a bit far-fetched at points, situation into a story that gripped you from the first page. Books by Alex Kava. Next, the villain of the piece is the sterotype we’ve all seen–the fundamentalist leader of a religious cult, and his deluded folloers. Too bad the author had to give her such a terrible reputation.
The idea of a cult like church has kzva made me uncomfortable and this book doesn’t help. It was surprising how much Maggie’s past came into play with this one. Tully are brought onto the case when it appears there may be a serial killer at large.
