The plot was really quite cool and exciting once you got more into the book, but it took me forever to get there because it was pretty slow and I kept having to reread goodmaan to try and understand what was going on.
If you like conflicted villains who aren’t evil purely for the sake of being bad, go pick up the nearest copy of this book. She’s blurting out statements right and left, when just months before she lowers her eyes and says “yes, Master,” “yes, Swordmaster” and so on.
I hope the series remains that way but goorman ending and Eona’s power gives me reason to be concerned. As a reader, you are well aware that Eon’s continued consumption of the Sun drug, and his denial of his femininity, are distancing him from his dragon; but since Eon continues to struggle against this obvious conclusion for several chapters, it leads to a sort of hideous, helpless frustration on the poor reader’s part.
Also, one major character is a eunuch and another is a transsexual, both of which are accepted in the fantasy culture of this story, as are the rigidly maintained gender roles.
The Dragoneyes are the link between the spiritual world of the dragons and the physical universe. We don’t get too deep a glimpse into their character, what makes them tick, or get more of their personality besides the superficial.

Eon: Dragoneye Reborn
I think it’s one of those books that will make you a better person if you read it young enough. Eon is not an easy character to like. There was just the right amount of different characters introduced with very individual struggles, well-rounded, who all contributed something to the plot and Eona’s development.
I’m hopeful Eona will learn more about her family in the companion novel. Even as it is, half the people he sees ward themselves against evil when he walks by. This isn’t a cliche woman dressing up as male to manipulate a situation while secretly plotting shit.
I loved the idea of having a bond with a dragon not through a physical attachment, but bu mental one. Dragoneye Reborn Alison Goodman, Author. This novel was very thorough, and I have to say that some of the details were lost on me.
Eon must find the strength and inner power to battle those who want to take her magic Together the Mirror Dragon and Dragoneye force compassion upon Ido and the trio make their escape to the river. But it wasn’t enough just to dress like a boy—she had to think like one, too.

Then again, there is another option: Exciting faerie series with a fantastic tomboy heroine. The world building was very Oriental which fitted well with the theme of dragons. This year’s competition is to bond with the Rat Dragon, and in this Eon fails. That’s a small complaint, though. The world Eona lives in is described alisno vividly. I also couldn’t help but remember the early Joseon periodand since I went back and read some of the history, I see why Eon felt so familiar!
I did enjoy it and I deborn read the sequel but there were many aspects of the book that irked me.

The parents’ guide to what’s in this book. I can not help but to sit back and admire the amount of research Alison Goodman had done to describe Eona’s world. This combined with the fantasy aspect of the dragons – which I didn’t really expect to love that much – was superb.

A good deal of the first half of the novel is spent on world-buidling, but it’s done in such an authentic, interesting way, building the character of Eon and those around her that it all feels natural and authentic.
