I thought the premise was interesting, but the book doesn’t stand out much for me. But Mordred survives, and for the rest of his life, nurses mixed feelings toward his parents and himself.

Short and sweet, but a little more bittersweet in where it is springeer to go. The shocking discoveries and revelations that unfold help create a sense of mystery leading to a spfinger read. The characters were realistic as well as the dialogue and setting. It is told in the first person.


The ending also felt like a bit of a cop-out to me. He is the tragic product of a self-fulfilling prophecy.

You cannot help but feel sympathy for a character who, no matter how good his intentions or how hard he tries to do the right thing, has a life filled with so much strife and sorrow. Can Mordred find love? It was not unusual at the time for kings to have children by their sisters, so the fact that Mordred was the result of the union of Arthur and his half-sister, at least in this telling; scholars differwas less important than Merlin’s foretelling.
